The werbs

1) Tower of London:1.The Tower of London was built at the beginning of the 11th century to defend London against intruders.
2.The construction of the Tower of London was initiated by William the Conqueror in 1070.
3. It was built to enforce the power of the king over the newly conquered country.
4. The Tower of London was strategically built near the river Thames and consists of almost 20 towers in total.


2)Tower Bridge:1.Disliked by most when constructed in 1894, the Tower Bridge has become a symbol of London.
2.The Tower Bridge , named after its two impressive towers, is one of London's best known landmarks.
3. This Victorian Bridge is now more than 100 years old.


3)Globe Theatre:1.The Globe Theatre refers to one of three theatres in London associated with William Shakespeare.
2. The original Globe Theatre was built in 1599 by the playing company, Lord Chamberlain's Men, to which Shakespeare belonged, and destroyed by fire on June 29, 1613.
3. The Globe Theatre that was rebuilt by June 1614 and closed in 1642.

4)London Eye:1.A recent but already very popular tourist attraction is the London Eye, a giant observation wheel located in the Jubilee Gardens on the South Bank.

6)Buckingham Palace:1.Buckingham Palace, one of several castles owned by the British Royal family, is one of the major tourist attractions in London.
2.The original building was constructed as a countryhouse in 1705 by the duke of Buckingham, John Sheffield.
3. King George III bought the house in 1761 for his wife and had it altered by William Chambers.


7)Trafalgar Square:1.At that time the site was called Charing. Later it became known as Charing Cross, after a memorial cross on the square.
2. The nearby underground station - aka 'tube' - is still named Charing Cross.


8)Piccadilly Circus:1.Piccadilly Circus is a famous road junction and public space of London's West End in the City of Westminster, built in 1819 to connect Regent Street with the major shopping street of Piccadilly.
2. In this context a circus, from the Latin word meaning a circle, is a circular open space at a street junction.It now links directly to the theatres on Shaftesbury Avenue as well as the Haymarket.

Trafalgari Väljak on saanud enda nime Admiral Nelsonilt, kes oli kuulus võitja Trafalgari sõdades 21 oktoobril 1805. Nelson Column on 56 meetrit kõrge ja tippul sa võid näha Admiral Nelsoni kuju. Ta suri sõjas.
Nelson Cllumn Trafalgari väljakul, ehitis
